I’m so excited because today is release day for Seducing the Fireman, the third and final book in the Risky Business series. While it’s always tough to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love, Seducing the Fireman holds a special place in my heart. I absolutely adore Jax and Becca and hope you will love them as hard as I do (snark and all)!
As a writer, there’s nothing more exhilarating than facing a blank page, knowing a new story is about to unfold at your fingertips. New characters, new plot bunnies, new challenges. It’s always an emotional experience. Seriously. So. Many. Feels. But as exciting as a fresh start is, it can also be a little scary (read: terrifying) as you walk that fine line between real life and fantasy. That was the case with Seducing the Fireman.
When I sat down to write Jax and Becca’s story, I knew that if I was going to tell their tale, it had to be true to life. Seducing the Fireman isn’t just a romance; it’s the tale of a hero, a man who’s quietly dedicated his life to serving others while struggling with his inner demons.
Jax may not exist in the real world, but I wanted him to be the embodiment of the real life heroes who put their lives on the line every day to make this nation great. They’re firefighters, police officers, members of our military. They’re the men and women who selflessly risk their lives to protect those in need and they do it day in and day out. They serve without expectation, rarely identifying themselves as heroes. To many, it’s all in a day’s work. It’s the job they were called to do, a cause they believe in, or maybe even a family tradition. They’re courageous, humble and the best mankind has to offer.
As the wife of a combat wounded veteran, I’ve seen firsthand the toll a career in service can take on an individual and the families who love them. I hope that perspective has allowed me to deliver on the promise of crafting a tale that’s both romantic and authentic. And in the spirit of paying it forward and supporting these heroes, I will be donating 10% of the first month’s sales for Seducing the Fireman to the FDNY Foundation.
Thank you to all of the men and women who serve this great country. You’re the real heroes.
